INTERVIEWING MISS ARIANNA SIMONETTI…………
BY HELEN ARTOPOULOU AND VICKY GALANI
1. What did you like most during your presence here?
-I’ve been back in Italy for two months now, and Greece already seems like a dream. I have appreciated many things about Greece – the food, the landscapes, the people. I miss listening the Greek language and learning more about it every day. But, overall, I had a really wonderful experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life. To become part of a community in another country is a very special opportunity, not to mention the chance to develop teaching skills in a unique environment.
2. You had the chance to know the way teaching in Greece. Do you think we have to change something?
-I don’t think that you really have to change something.
3. What did you like most in the way that our school functions?
-I like the good relationship that you have with your headmistress. She is near the students, she tries to understand them and, as a consequence, students respect her.
4. How was your corporation with the students? What didn’t you like in our school?
-My corporation with the students was very good so nothing made me to feel uncomfortable. Everybody was kind and that was enough to me.
5. Your presence here came up on various local celebrations. Did you enjoy them?
-I really enjoyed your local celebrations. It was great to see the parades where well-dressed students and community groups march together. I found these celebrations very positive, especially in bringing the whole town together and reminding everyone that freedom cannot be taken for granted.
6. What kind of food have you tasted? Which one did you like the most?
-I tasted Moussaka with Eggplants, the classic Greek salad (but without feta: I don’t like cheese!!!), Bifteki, Gyros and so on, but the food I liked the most was the Greek sweets!!!
7. There are rumors that Mediterranean people are all very hospitable. Did you feel something like this here?
-I found Greek people very kind and welcoming.
8. Everything you meet in Greece meet your expectations?
-Yes, of course.
9. As you leave Tripoli what would you say as a foreign person and as a Mediterranean person to us as students for our future?
-I think that you have to follow your dreams and, especially in this moment, to be positive and creative! Good luck and thank you for everything!
